Mayleen Vega
Biography
Since her early days as a teen born and raised in Puerto Rico, Mayleen Vega developed a great interest for the entertainment world. For her middle school graduation, her parents gave her the best present she could have ever received, a video camera. During her high school days, Mayleen would gather her friends and classmates to shoot comedy and music videos in her garage that she would later edit from VCR to VCR.
Her dreams of studying filmmaking came true when she moved to Orlando, FL to major in film production.
In 1998, Mayleen received an Associate of Science degree in Film Production Technology from Valencia Community College.
Thanks to the hands-on-experience she acquired through this program she was hired to work in various film and TV productions
in Central Florida ranging from Wardrobe Assistant to Costume Designer.
In 2001, Mayleen was hired as a staff member of Victory World Church, one of the biggest churches in Atlanta, Georgia.
For close to three years she was in charge of Video Production and Editing where she served as a one-woman-crew, producer,
director, camera operator, and editor. Mayleen used this time to develop her editing skills while her interest for directing and producing
was growing even stronger.
In 2006, Mayleen's passion for filmmaking prompted her to enroll in Full Sail's Film program in order to obtain her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Film and complete her studies at Full Sail in Winter Park, FL. Some of Mayleen's academic accomplishments in these areas are "Imaginary Soulmates" (35mm short), "Cosplay" (HD short documentary), and Entertainment Now (30 min. HD program).
In 2008, Mayleen has been working as a freelancer in Orlando working in commercials and TV productions as she gets ready to embrace new job opportunities in the entertainment world and plans to grow in experience and knowledge to accomplish her filmmaking dreams and leave a legacy in this challenging and exciting industry.
